We are Judi Sticklen and Rhonda
Simonis and we live on the Fraser Coast, 3 hours north of Brisbane, the
capital of Queensland in Australia. The Fraser Coast is so called as
it is the jump off point to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the
world, and also for the visits of the Humpback Whales as they rest and play on
their southern migration.
We started working together 14 years ago in a craft shop. Cloth Dolls
claimed our attention 9 years ago and we have been designing and selling
them
since then.
Judi's background is in Textile Crafts with Certificates in Garment
Construction and Textile Crafts to her name. Judi has been teaching
Patchwork and Quilting for well
over 20 years and also runs a Machine Quilting service
called "Quacky Quilts". Using domestic machines, not long-arm
machines, requires immense skill in all sewing machine
techniques.
Rhonda's background is in Pottery & Sculpting. She has studied Studio
Ceramics and Sculpting and has been teaching and creating for
30 years. Rhonda is
currently teaching Ceramics and Pottery at the Maryborough Correctional
Centre. Years of designing and making ballet costumes has made a natural progression
to costuming her creations.
Between us is a lifetime of creativity and ideas.
We continue to
learn and experiment with new products but like everything, time is their
worst enemy. The girls are looking forward to more time to spend with
their designing. We have individual patterns under the banner of
Dolly Duo, as well as joint projects. Please take some time to browse
our wares. We hope there is something to catch your fancy. Come
back often as we will be adding on a regular basis.
